An unlawful assembly was called after windows were broken in the Piedmont neighborhood.
On Friday, July 1, 2022, at around 9:00 p.m., a group gathered in Peninsula Park. At around 10:30 p.m., the group began marching out of the park onto the street, blocking traffic on North Rosa Parks Way and North Albina Avenue. Within minutes, officers discovered broken windows in a commercial area on the 6400 block of North Albina Street.
The Portland Police Bureau used a mobile loudspeaker to tell the crowd that the incident was an unlawful gathering. The announcements were also sent out via Twitter. The group began to break up and left the area a short time later.
Officials documented the damage to the property, which was a vacant former coffee shop. No other damage is documented. A person who recorded video of the march reported after the incident that they were attacked by a suspect. These crimes will be investigated. No arrests were made. If anyone has information about the crimes, please email [email protected] and quote case number 22-175841.
Officers patrolled the area until about 11:30 p.m.
