Selling and Serving: Andrew Valdez Johnston’s military background gives him a systematic approach to real estate

What happens when you combine a real estate vision with a US Navy background? Andrew Valdez Johnston’s technical knowledge, passion, and background has made him an emerging star on multiple fronts and also at Hulett and Associates Realty.

“I take the same care and respect that I put in my military relationships with my customers,” said Andrew. “I believe the difference between normal real estate professionals and my business is the basic principles of care, respect and honor.”

Systems and resources are the key to customer satisfaction

As a real estate agent at Hulett and Associates Inc., Andrew serves clients in Virginia Beach, Virginia with something that its competitors cannot – a full line of products to inform and inspire its sellers and buyers. Called VJ’s Complete Home System Model, the hand-crafted guidance and advice includes a buyer checklist, mortgage securing recommendations, mortgage guides, and home inspection tips.

“In an extremely busy market, it is more important than ever that both sellers and buyers are informed of best practices,” said Andrew. “I offer resources so that they can learn at their own pace – and they always know that I am there for questions when needed.”

Learn the business

Learning has been a pattern in the real estate miracle’s life ever since he read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. With financial advice and opportunities for independence, Andrew was inspired to learn not only about money, but also about wealth and investing.

When purchasing his first property in 2016, his investment goals were delayed due to service requirements. Andrews Schiff said she was away 45 percent of the time in the past three years (2016-2018), the highest time in the Navy during that time. When he got home, he invested in a 4 unit condo hacking a house and eventually bought his first commercial property – a dentist office building. Combining his love of real estate with the courage and leadership skills he learned in the military has propelled his business forward – which came as no surprise to those who know him.

Building relationships and rapport

“My business is based on trustworthiness, exceptional negotiating skills, and responsibility for my customers’ interests,” said Andrew. “Relationships are everything in this business.”

After all that he has learned over the years, Andrew wants to gradually pass his knowledge on to every customer he works with.

“My business is relationship driven and I learn as much as I teach,” said Andrew. “Real estate has a lot in common with the military – I’m part of a team that works towards the same goal.”

Believing that the key to selling well lies in both knowledge, relationships and market expertise, Andrew has taken on a passion and vision to nurture others with him. From training to involvement in his community, this aspiring real estate professional is changing the industry – one sales contract after the other.
