Construction of Olympia, a 26-story mixed-use residential building on 30 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, has passed the half-time mark. The 270 foot high structure was developed by Fortis Property Group and designed by Hill West Architects with workstead interiors. It will result in 76 condominiums. A new teaser site was also unveiled for the property, bounded by Front Street to the north, Washington Street to the east, and York Street to the south.
Photos show the unorthodox-shaped reinforced concrete structure that is gradually affecting the Brooklyn skyline. The sail-like mass should peak sometime in the next few months, possibly before the end of summer.
The first cover plates have begun installation and consist of floor-to-ceiling glass surrounded by dark metal plates. They were seen on the first floor above the multi-story dais on the northeast corner across from the Brooklyn Bridge. From here the floor slabs and perimeter columns begin to extend outward before narrowing towards the center of the structure. The upper portion of 30 Front Street will feature a series of tiered private outdoor patios with uninterrupted views of the East River skyline between the Financial District and Midtown.
The project name derives from a waterfront village called Olympia, which later became part of the Brookland parish. The living area amenities include a lounge, sauna and spa, fitness room, yoga room and swimming pool. Below are additional renderings created by March Made that illustrate different angles of the exterior architecture.
YIMBY previously reported a completion date of December 2021, as stated on the build plate, although it is more likely to be sometime in the first half of 2022.
