A fire was reported on a large commercial property in the Hatt area of East Cornwall, triggering a response from the Devon and Cornwall emergency services.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that “multiple devices” had been at the scene early Saturday morning (September 25). Later reports said the commercial property was a barn and workshop in Vollards Lane, Hatt. Because of the fire and the presence of emergency vehicles, the A388 was closed in both directions from the crime scene to the A38 Carkeel roundabout in Saltash.
The St. Dennis Community Fire Station reported that six pumps from Saltash, Callington, Camels Head, Crown Hill and Greenbank were present along with the Devon Aerial Ladder Platform and two water carriers (Liskeard & Plympton).
The fire brigade urged the population to avoid the area due to the persistent response.
Hatt is a hamlet in the civil parish of Saltash in East Cornwall. It is approximately 20 minutes from Plymouth on the A388 between Callington and Saltash.
